Electric vehicle charging point in a car park

Electrical

EV charging infrastructure, secondary school in Bedfordshire

Power monitoring, trenching, ducting and new supplies for four electric vehicle chargers at a Bedfordshire secondary school.

Project overview

Design and installation of the electrical infrastructure for four EV charging points at a secondary school, delivered for its facilities management provider.

SCOPE

Confirm the site had spare capacity, then provide protected supplies from the existing distribution boards to four new charger positions in the car park.

WHAT WE DID

We monitored the load on the main distribution board for a week to prove capacity before committing to the design. We then excavated around 23 metres of trench, laid ducting, formed four concrete bases, pulled in armoured cable from two distribution boards and terminated and tested the new circuits, issuing an electrical installation certificate on completion.

OUTCOME

Four charger positions ready for connection, installed and certified around the school day with no disruption to teaching.
