Heating pressurisation unit fault, law courts in Cambridgeshire

Diagnosis of a leaking pressurisation unit serving the custody heating system at a law court, following a successful repair to a sister unit the year before.

Project overview

A reactive attendance to a leaking pressurisation unit on the custody suite heating circuit at a law court, delivered for its facilities management provider.

SCOPE

Investigate the leak, keep the heating system pressurised and recommend a permanent fix.

WHAT WE DID

Our engineer stripped the unit and found a hairline crack in the hydroblock, the cast body that houses the pump and valve assembly. Having repaired another of the site’s pressurisation units the previous year, we knew the plant well, kept the system topped up and quoted for a replacement unit so the custody heating stayed reliable through the winter.

OUTCOME

A clear diagnosis, no loss of heating to a sensitive area of the building, and a costed replacement for the client to approve.
