Loss of water supply, hotel at a motorway services

A same-day response to a complete loss of water at a busy hotel, traced to a jammed tank float valve and a leaking booster set.

Project overview

An emergency call-out to a hotel at a motorway services that had lost its water supply, delivered for its facilities management provider.

SCOPE

Attend urgently, restore water to the hotel and identify the root cause of the failure.

WHAT WE DID

Our engineer found the cold water storage tank float valve had jammed shut and the booster set was leaking from a pump seal. We freed the valve, refilled the tank, restored supply to the building and checked the booster set back into service, then recommended a replacement float valve and a low-level sensor to prevent a repeat.

OUTCOME

Water restored to guests the same day, with a short list of improvements to make the system more resilient.
